THRIFTING KARMA

I love the world of thrifting. There are just so many treasures out there to find, and there is such a thrill at finding these forgotten goodies and giving them a new home!!! These are some of the pieces I have found recently, and to me they are proof that the thrifting universe is looking over us :) This wee cutie came in a set of four, and was a mega bargain at $2 for the whole set. Despite the fact that it only holds what seems like a single shot of coffee, I couldn't resist the heart design and using a cup and saucer feels so ladylike!! (Also a good reason to have multiple coffees and feel like it's only a couple)

This lovely navy bag was found at a huge garage style charity shop that has a majority of it's stuff for free (its name you ask?-The free shop. I know. Original) I paid $3 for a bundle of things including this bag, which is in great condition considering it was piled under a mass of dusty clothes and books. It's a great size, and I'm always drawn to navy in accessories as you don't need to worry about matching it to outfits as it always blends in. The many zip pockets inside really got me excited (I know, it's a sad life I lead) and the gold fastener is too cute for words. It's now become one of my staple bags.

Well the picture speaks for itself...who doesn't need an egg shaped jewellery holder!!!!I love trinkets like this, and it was in really good condition (i am not sure of its age, but a lot of second hand ornaments have broken legs etc). I had a great time putting all my earrings in here, and it sits so nicely next to my music box!!!

These books were ones I had specifically looked for ( apart from "gone with the wind, which was a lovely gift from my Mum, thank you Mum!!!) and again, they are proof that you really can find exactly what you are looking for when op shopping. I am currently making my way through them (reading 'Seven years in Tibet' at the moment, which I am thoroughly enjoying, and have already read 'Gone with the wind')I love buying second hand books for multiple reasons: one is that I am quite rough with my books, and when they are already a little tatty I don't feel so bad when I get the first coffee stain on it! I also love looking for notes inside the cover from previous owners - especially in romantic books. Some of the sweetest notes are inside these treasures.

Despite the fact that I barely wear dressing gowns as light as this one, I can't resist purchasing them, even if they spend most of their time hanging up in my room looking pretty. I loved the print on this one, far too pretty to resist.

This whole outfit (bar the shoes which are from a dance wear shop) ,was purchased for a total of $8, and I have already worn the pieces to death. The shirt reminded me so much of Dorothy's dress print from The Wizard of Oz, and I have wanted some high waisted denim shorts for quite some time now. Add red lipstick and I felt just like Marilyn Monroe!!! (well, a shorter, smaller busted version anyway).

I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT THE BLUES

My beloved and our closest friends and I went to see the musical Jesus Christ Superstar last night, which was directed by, and starred two of our very dear and talented friends, Leon and Dean. I do love any opportunity to dress up, and I had a big play around with my wardrobe before deciding on trying out this wee number(which is actually a nightie!!) teamed with a new and very poofy underskirt, some wee shorts (I didn't want to give anyone an unladylike view of my behind when I bent over!) and a splash of red with this ribbon to give the outfit some definition. Andrea found this cutie cardigan for me in an op shop that we have just started looking in, and will definitely go back to! I love any shade of peach as it seems to compliment my very fair complexion, and the wee floral detail on the front is just too pretty for words!

This trench was a gift from my sister, and I have worn it every day since she gave it to me! I love the shape of it and the lining is super soft and snuggly-perfect for Autumn weather xxx

I am a total bag lady and this $3 salvation army one was worth all the struggle it took to untangle it from all the other bags hanging up with it! It's such a nice shade of navy blue, and it's big enough to hold all the wee essentials we gals need!xxxxx

White Wonderland

I have been digging about in many an op shop this week, and was lucky enough to come across this wee beauty for the ridiculous Price of $4!!! It was originally a costume! Tehe! But I just couldn't resist a try on and it seems as though it was meant for me as it fit perfectly! The universe was very good to me indeed and I am very thankful! I love the gold detail all around the edges, it just gives it a lil somethin extra!

I really wanted to keep it nice and simple and let the dress stand out on it's own, so I wore my old dance shoes. I knew they would come in handy one day!!!

I am a total girl when it comes to big, full skirts, I can't wait to find a tulle underskirt to pop underneath it, then it will really poof out!xxxx

PREPVILLE

I have been yearning after some Riding boots for quite some time now, and I finally got these beautiful chocolate brown Italian ones. I have invested in a few long, overly baggy shirts recently too, to wear with leggings and boots for that cosy, simple Ralph Lauren type comfort in Winter without actually turning to track pants(noooooo!) I loved the colour and feel of this shirt, and couldn't wait to try it out with my new boots, and my new tote bag, which made the whole outfit feel very preppy. It's a very fun outfit to wear! My babies! They are so comfortable to wear, and riding boots never date, so if I take good care of them (I am a little OCD about conditioning and waterproofing my shoes and boots, I will do a blog on it soon!) they will last for years.

My other new baby! It's actually an overnight bag, but I am one of those bag lady's who takes the kitchen sink and then some with me everywhere.It fits soooo much in it, but because of the lovely structure of it, it never loses it's shape. And the checked pattern is too cute for words! xxxx

RIDING HIGH

Winter has started creeping in the last few days, with cooler mornings and the nights getting darker much quicker, so I thought it was the perfect time to pull out my boots! I am loving all the riding boot styles around this season (I have my eye on a gorgeous, classic pair at Mi Piaci that I'm planning to buy in a few weeks) but these tan babies are so comfortable and soft, I hope to be bringing them out for many Winters to come xxxx I love my Harem pants so much, and I love the way they puff out over my boots, it makes my outfit feel lovely and slouchy without feeling sloppy. And more stripes! My lovely friend Christina gifted me this gorgeous vintage scarf, so it had it's first outing today!

My baby all fresh from the groomer! (I love how they puff his ears, making his wee body look even smaller!!So cute!)

These boots are made with what feels like a lovely soft kid leather(it doesn't specify on the boots), and are lined with polar-fleece, so they are super cosy and very snuggly feeling. I love this shade of tan too, it's such a great neutral to wear when black gets a bit too much (not that that is very often!) The heels are a perfect height too, nice and thick so I can go dog walking in them without sinking into the mud. I felt like I needed a horse and paddock to wear them properly!! xxxxxxxxxx

MAD MEN

I love men's tailoring, and why should they have all the fun!! I discovered this stripey (yep I'm mad about stripes!) Givenchy tie at an op shop a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd test it out with my favourite harem pants (so the outfit didn't look too corporate) and a classic white blouse and my beloved grey blazer. My new ballet flats, headband and pearl earrings added an ounce of femininity so I didn't feel too boyish. I had such fun wearing it and I think it will be one of those outfits I repeat and repeat!! CHANNELING COCO.......

I was given the Coco Chanel move Coco Avant Chanel for my birthday, and it has reiterated to me how simplicity is always the key to a fabulous outfit. I particularly loved the way Coco wore beautiful simple outfits, such as her gorgeous twin-sets, and allowed herself room to play around with accessories (namely her famous multi-strands of fake pearls, despite the fact that she owned multitudes of real ones, so very chic!) without making the outfit fussy.

Shirt: Thrifted ( I love that it's a loose fit, as it's uber comfortable, and has that 'I stole my boyfriends shirt' feel to it. The stripes completely sold me on it!

Pants: Cotton On, these pants are so ridiculously comfortable, a couple of weeks after buying my first pair, I went back and bought 2 more!

Shoes: Mi Piaci, I love my ballet flats, they are super comfortable but always look neat and dressy.

My new baby! I love the gold tassel and chain details, and it has so much room inside, which I definitely need! And black is always such a versatile colour, which I need with a big handbag as I tend to use it everyday until it starts getting a little worse for wear! xxxx
