As much as I love the gorgeous full skirted dresses of the 1950's, I think my favourite era would have to be the 1940's. I love all the day to day things that were worn then; fitted shirts with high waist flowing skirts, 3/4 length pencil skirts with pleats, snuggly fitted cardigans, tailored jackets nipped in perfectly at the waist, and of course the hats. This hat reminded me of the amazing hat Ingrid Bergmman wore in Casablanca (one of my all time favourite movies), which is of course, set against the backdrop of WW2. xxxx

MISSING TETE A TETE

This was one of the first dresses I ever bought from Tete a Tete vintage-a beautiful vintage store in the CBD of Christchurch, owned by two lovely people and dear friends of ours. The fate of Tete a Tete is still unknown as Vanessa and Warren-the owners, have been unable to access either one of their two stores in the central city (the other is the gorgeous Two Squirrels) since the February earthquake.

I really miss both stores, and miss the whole experience of finding a beautiful vintage treasure and getting to chat to Vanessa and Warren at the same time. I hope they can gain access soon to get some of their gorgeous treasures back xxxx

Happy Easter!! I bought two gorgeous new (and by new I mean they are new to me but pre-loved of course) winter coats yesterday but it was such a hot day I couldn't wear either of them! Had a lovely relaxing day walking the doggies, looking at Toadstalls, eating too much chocolate, reading (with Toto napping beside me), and cuddling my super soft bunny Thumper. GHOST WHISPERER

Ghost Whisperer is one of my all time favourite shows. It explores the 'the spirit world' something that has intrigued me ever since I can remember, and it is one of the few shows on TV that actually has a continuously happy marriage on it. A rarity these days. But the real reason I started watching it is for the beautiful wardrobe. From season one, Melinda Gordon (played by the beautiful and talented, Jennifer Love Hewitt) has had an amzing and stunning wardrobe that seems to create its on time and place. She wears a mix of vintage and modern clothing, but how they are pieced together is just gorgeous. Makes me want to move to Grandview and have the ability to talk to ghosts.

If you have never seen it, I recommend watching season one, as it is in my opinion, the best of all 5 seasons. It helps having the talented Aisha Tyler (2nd to last photo) playing Andrea, Melindas best friend, and Jay Morh, playing Melindas quirky and comic professor friend Rick Payne who helps her solve ghost mysteries.

Made these last night (with help from my beloved with the glue gun......and the pliers...Ok he pretty much did all the work) I have wanted some for a long time, and decided to try making some.

Here is the recipe!

- clip on earrings

-plain necklace chain

-pliers

-hot glue gun

Clip the necklace up into strands of the right length, and hot glue them to the underside of the earrings and done!!! Cardi clips!! I made 3 pairs last night as I have so many earrings I don't wear. I shall photograph the rest over the next few days. xxxxxxxxxxxx

CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE MEMORIAL SERVICE

Friday 18th March was a day for remembering those who perished in the February Earthquake, and for taking the time to take in what has happened to our beautiful city. A memorial service was held in Hagly Park, the main park in the centre of the city, and my beloved and I went and took Bob and Toto with us. There were some beautiful speeches, including some from our mayor Bob Parker (who is doing a wonderful job holding the city together in this strange time), our Prime Minister John Key (also doing a very good job I may add), and Prince William, to name a few. It was a beautiful, sad and emotional service that made me realize just how much I love this city and how strongly I feel that we will get it back on its feet. My favourite part of the service was when they got different religions to share some words each (Jewish, Muslim, Buddhism, Hindu and Christian)as although I am not a religious person myself, it is important to recognise all the many nationalities of lives that this earthquake took. My bubby and I, they experienced the earthquake too so they came with us to the service. He was pretty happy to be at the park! xxx

JAPAN EARTHQUAKE

Just a wee post to say I am thinking of everyone in Japan at the moment after the horrific 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hit on Friday 11th March, leading to a massive Tsunami.
My thoughts are with everyone there, and particularly those who have loved ones missing.

CHRISTCHURCH 6.3 MAGNITUDE QUAKE

Just a few heartbreaking images from the aftermath of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake on that hit on Tuesday 22nd February. Although it was smaller on the Richter scale than than the 7.1 that hit in September 2010, it was so shallow (5kms deep) that it caused ALOT more damage, and unlike the last quake, this one has taken lives. Amazingly, my beloved husband, all my fur babies and my friends and family are safe and uninjured, and I am very thankful for that. There are many people out there who aren't as lucky, and my thoughts are with them. The Christchurch Cathedral before and after the quake. 20 bodies have been found here.

The two above images are of the Grand Chancellor Hotel which is situated right in the CBD. It is currently sinking on it's foundations and will either collapse on it's own or will have to be pulled down. It is one of the tallest buildings in Christchurch.

PRESENTS AND PIE

My beloveds Christmas present to me. Her name is Bambi (as he joked about getting me a pet deer for Christmas). She is the perfect size car for me and Toto and we have been enjoying lots of trips to the park.

I have been doing a fair bit of baking lately and this pie is my absolute favourite thing to bake.

Berry Pie Recipe:

2 cups plain flour

2 egg yolks

150 grams butter

1/2 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons water

2 cups berries (or whatever fruit you prefer)

cinnamon

brown sugar

Sift flour. Cut in butter until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in white sugar. Add egg yolks and water. Mix to a stiff dough.Roll out into 2 flat pieces (one for the base, the other for the top). Place base in greased pie dish. Add fruit. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon to sweeten fruit. Place top on pie. Trim edges and press fork around rim to tidy. Use fork to make holes in top to bake properly. Bake at 180 for approx 20-30mins in middle of oven. Cool and enjoy!!

IN THE NAVY

It was a rainy day today so I spent a lovely day indoors cuddling up with Toto, reading, doing a little hand sewing (not well, but got the job done) and cleaning, and this evening, after walking the doggies (the rain has finally stopped), I have a 500 piece puzzle to start. Bliss!!!
This is one of my go to outfits for when I spend a day at home or doing errands: a skirt and shirt with stockings and low heels: It's a perfect mix of my personal taste with enough practicality and comfort for me to still be happy wearing it until late in the evening, and as I don't wear trackpants, this is a pretty standard outfit for me to wear day in day out.
Add red lipstick and a coffee and I am ready for the day!!

PEACHY KEEN

I am one of those people that goes through fazes with clothes where I find an item that fits well and fits into my overall style, and then I wear it to death. I mean I pretty much wear out the poor top/skirt/bag/dress until it looks like one of my animals attacked it and therefore has to be thrown out. This skirt is my current of these items. I just love the length, colour and fit, and I have worn it about 5 times in the last two weeks to various occasions; as part of an evening suit, a day skirt, and a 'costume' for my brothers party (I get so many people asking why I am in 'costume' with my usual day to day wardrobe that costume party's don't really require me to dress that differently).
This was at the Halswell Quarry, my favourite place to take the dogs, and as it was a beautiful day, they went for a big swim in the muddy water hole there.

I love this bridge and have wanted to take a photo here for a long time.

A ROCKY HORROR BIRTHDAY

It was my little brother Ollie's birthday on Saturday, and he decided to have a Goth costume party, which I was very excited about. Costume party's are always so much fun, and it's so much easier to break the ice with everyone as your costume becomes the starting point of conversation. My brother Ollie, my older sister Alissa and I at the family dinner on Sunday night for Ollie's birthday.

My beloved and I decided to go as Brad and Janet from the cult Musical Rocky Horror, as it is one of our all time favourite musicals. Here's us having a 'Dammit Janet' moment.

And my wee bubba went as Count Dracula, my beloved found this wee cape for a teddy bear in a local store, and added the red collar. Voila! Doggie Dracula!

TWO NEW BABIES

Ever since my friend Christina got a bunny rabbit I have desperately wanted one, and when her and her husband added a Guinea Pig to their family (they also have a gorgeous cat named Murray), my husband and I decided it was time to go pet shopping!
It didn't take long. I wanted a bunny and my beloved wanted a Guinea, so after a few pet shop visits, we brought home these two babies... Well, not these two.
As much as I would love to own a pet deer (Audrey Hepburn had one once), I know that won't happen until we have lots more land ( and I learn about how to go about having one as a domestic pet of course) So these two were perfect additions to our dogified family.

Meet Thumper. He is a black and white mini lop bunny. As soon as I saw him I knew he was meant to be mine. His eyes have the same black fur around them to my baby Toto, and he was just so gorgeous and soft to cuddle. Even more perfect is that he adores Toto, and the two of them bounce around the dining room playing tag and cuddling together. He is quite a feisty wee thing which is great considering Bobs head is bigger than wee Thumpers whole body, so he isn't scared of much (except the vacuum cleaner-this fear seems to be univeral in all animals don't you think?) I absolutely adore him, and he is such a lovely addition to our family.

Meet Norma-Jeane (named after my greatest idol, Marilyn Monroe). She is a multi coloured Guinea Pig, and is super cute!! She loves being cuddled, especially by my beloved, whom she seems to like more than anyone else, and she makes the sweetest wee noises. My beloved is planning on building her a bigger cage than her current one, so he can add tunnels and a toy area for her, sort of a Guinea circus!!

FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT

Apologies for the belated blog, my internet connection has been terrible of late, and this is the 5th attempt to post this one!! A few weeks ago, my beloved surprised me with tickets to Auckland to see one of my favourite performers, Adam Lambert, playing live at the Trust stadium. Two weeks ago, we went to the concert, and he really did live up to all my expectations. He sounded just as amazing live as he does on his CD, and he has such an incredible stage presence and charm. In my opinion (which is shared by many others) he will become an icon as big as Freddie mercury or Elvis, and I look forward to seeing what he does next with his talent. For those of you who are thinking, 'Adam who??? ', he was the runner up on the eighth season of American idol (it was ridiculous that he didn't win, even the talented winner Kris Allen has stated that Lambert should have taken the title). Check out 'For your entertainment', his first single, on youtube, it is fantastic.

WE'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE....

I thought it was finally time to do a blog on Wizard of Oz and the few collector items I have from the wonderful movie. As a little girl, I so desperately wanted to be Dorothy, that I took a pair of my big sisters black heels, and glitter glued them in sparkly red. Every dog toy I owned was called Toto, and every chance at dress up I went as Dorothy. For our first Christmas together, my husband ordered custom made Ruby Slippers from a website that made them from the blue print of the originals. I still remember crying because I finally had my very own pair!!!! I even slept in them that night!! The next Christmas my husband got me Toto, and my wee black and white baby has been spoilt ever since. (no-one else is allowed to use my vintage dresses as a bed!) He looked so cosy I just couldn't bring myself to move him.

My custom made rubies. I don't wear them much, but I did wear them the night my beloved proposed to me.

This brooch was a beautiful wedding gift from my dear friend Andrea. It dates back to when the movie was first released and merchandise was everywhere.

This was the ring box that my beloved proposed to me with. My engagement ring has a ruby on it, as a representation of my love of Wizard of Oz. It has 'As long as your mine' engraved inside it, the duet we were singing to a party full of party when my beloved proposed. The song is from the musical 'Wicked', which is the prequel story to the Wizard of Oz.

These collector edition Wizard of Oz Barbies were a special gift from my sister in law. I absolutely love them, and as tempted as I am to get them out and have a play, they look so lovely in their boxes, and I like displaying them in their original condition. My favourite is Dorothy, and I love that they of course included Toto, who is inside her basket. xxxxxx

IN THE PINK

When it comes to pink, especially candy pinks, my inner Elle Woods comes right on out. So when I spotted this beautiful dress in an Auckland vintage store when we were on our honeymoon, I knew it had to be mine. I love the crochet detailing on the top, and the matching trim on the sleeves. It is now one of my classics I turn to for dinner dates with our friends. Snaps for Elle!!

CHRISTCHURCH QUAKE AFTERMATH

After a week of scary aftershocks, and another big earthquake on Wednesday morning, the city is finally settling down enough for people to start picking up the pieces and dealing with the damage around the city after the 7.1 quake that hit at 4:35am on Saturday, September 4th. Although we are very lucky not to have had any fatalities, so many buildings and houses are in tatters after the quake, and the aftershocks made many buildings weaker trying to cope with the constant movement. I feel like I am starting to settle down now, but that was the scariest week of my life, and I am very glad to have it over with. Toto and Bob are very shaky, as each tremor shook them up alot, and I wish that I could calm them by explaining why the house is shaking every hour, and that it will eventually stop. Here are some photos of my city, and the damage this event has caused. I can say with certainty that the city will never quite look the same again. The Repertory Theatre. My husband and I have performed in two musicals in this gorgeous old theatre, and they are trying to save it from having to be being pulled down.

This beautful family manor was an historic buliding just outside of Christchurch, very close to the faultline. The triple brick house crumbled under the strength of the first quake, and amazingly, the family owners who were inside when the quake hit managed to get out without any serious injuries.

EARTHQUAKE SCARE

As I'm sure many already know, there was a very scary earthquake here in Christchurch at 4:30 this morning. It measured 7.1 on the Richter scale, with aftershocks of around 6 on the Richter scale, and boy was it terrifying. There have been no deaths, but a lot of damage and it has been sad seeing so much of the city in ruins. I woke up bolt up right as soon as the quake started, woke my husband, grabbed Toto, and yelled at my husband to grab Bob and go under the dining room table where we waited for about 40 minutes throughout the very strong aftershocks.
Hoping everyone is ok and glad that the quake is over! Special thoughts to our dear friends Vanessa and Warren who have two gorgeous vintage stores in the area with most damage. Hope you guys don't have too much damage xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

THERE'S NO PLACES LIKE HOME

I found this dress on Friday in my favourite vintage store, Tete a tete, and immediately knew it had to be mine. I absolutely love gingham, and blue is my favourite colour to wear (i also love red, but prefer it in small doses, such as a handbag or shoes). It reminded me so much of Dorothy's dress in the Wizard of Oz (one of my all time favourite things), and it fit me well. Meant to be! As it is still freezing here at the moment, I am looking forward to wearing it while picnicking or riding my cute pink bicycle on hot Summer days.

The dress is so cute it was just screaming out for a bow in my hair, just like Dorothy.

EVER AFTER

Our Wedding day was on Friday July 30th, and I couldn't have asked for a smoother, more enjoyable (not to mention surprisingly sunny) day. We got married at The sign of the Takahe (if you live in Christchurch or are visiting and haven't been there, do!!! It is like an enchanted castle, but small and cosy, which was perfect for us as we only had 49 guests). As a girl who grew up loving fairytales, but not really expecting to get married, the day was a lovely mix of emotions, laughter, joy and pure happiness. We decided early on to have a Disney fairytale theme (namely Beauty and the Beast, my favourite fairytale movie), and we incorporated this into our outfits (my dress was altered to look like Belles yellow dress from the Disney movie, but in cream instead, and my beloveds suit was a mix of the Beasts suit, and Patrick Dempsey's suit in the ball scene from Disney's 'Enchanted'). My beloveds very talented Mum made his suit jacket for him, and it turned out beautifully. We also had a Disney seating plan, with castle candle favours, and Disney movie pictures to represent each table. Our wedding rings are also both engraved with 'And They Lived Happily Ever After'. Early on in the process, we made (designed by my beloved) pop up invitations, telling our story as though it were a fairytale. These were a bittersweet production as they took sooooo long to make and were very complex to put together, and we only just got them out in time with the help of our dearest friends. Thanks guys, you know who you are!!! Saying our 'I do's'. My beloved had this aisle strip made in secret with the help of the bridal party, so I didn't know it was there until I was walking down. We had red roses everywhere, again taking from Beauty and the Beast.

Our doggies were a huge part of the ceremony;Toto walked down the aisle with my Mum and me, in a vest that matched my dress, and Bob was waiting with my beloved and the groomsmen, with a matching cravat. They were very funny throughout the whole ceremony, making lots of funny noises and wondering what on earth was happening. As we wrote alot of the ceremony ourselves (again written in fairytale style), we got the celebrant to get the dogs permission (by way of barking/whining) to marry us before he announced us as husband and wife. Toto got particularly excited in this part, and decided to jump up on to my dress for a hug (hence, this photo) Our dear friends, Andrea and David (Andrea was my wonderful Maid of honour, and David was a groomsmen) (technically she was matron of honour, as she and David are married, but I really dislike the word matron!) were also our doggie wranglers, as the dogs absolutely love them both to pieces, and they did a great job of keeping them calm throughout the ceremony. To add to the theme, we had a very talented dancer friend teach us a dance to the song 'So close' from 'Enchanted', for our first dance later on the evening, which we managed to get through with only one wrong step (and yes it was me, I really am uncoordinated when it comes to dancing).

This was taken on a dear friends' iPhone, if you can believe it. I love the castle in the background, it was such a beautiful backdrop.

This was the main room we had the photos in and I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos, when our lovely photographer Linda, has finished editing them. (The 1st,4th and last photos were done by her) We decided on alot of very stylised shots prior to the day (such as a Cinderella shoe on the step shot, and a Sleeping beauty shot just before the kiss), and Linda really went all out in ensuring she got them all without making them look tacky or fake, and maintaining a romantic feel throughout all of them. By the middle of the day I had perfected my 'Disney eyes' to the camera! It made the photos really fun as well, and I can't wait to see the finished products. We had such a fun and special day, and are very thankful to everyone who was a part of it. It's amazing how much planning goes into a Wedding and then poof! It's over so quickly. The best advice I was given for the day was to treasure every moment and take time out as a couple to just be present with each other enjoying the day, as it flies by so fast, so we made sure to do this as much as possible. xxx

Don't you just love high waisted pants? I adore them. If my waist isn't visible in an outfit, it generally doesn't look good on me, so these lovely, soft floppy wide leg pants were a magical find. I have been dressing in quite summery clothes lately (and yes it is freezing outside. After this shoot, I layered up with a cardie, coat, gloves and hat). I'm really not great with cold weather, so I can pretend that Summer is here as long as I'm inside and wearing pastel colours. Right?....

I had my foils redone, so my extensions are looking a lot more blended with the rest of my hair. Feels much better :)

I LOVE this handbag. I have been searching for a straw bag for quite some time, and although they are plentiful in the op shops I shop in, I never quite found the perfect one for me until my friend Andrea and I saw this one in savemart, and it was straw bag love at first sight(although the outer of the bag is actually made from paper! Crazy huh!). I love all the detail on it, the size. and the gorgeous handles. Yummy!

My lovely friend Christina gave me this rather gorgeous sailor dress a few weeks ago, and when she gave it to me it was actually a long jumpsuit. The jumpsuit was beautiful but, as it was a vintage children's one, it was too short for me in the torso area. So I cut away at it and this is how it ended up.

I adore polka dots, and navy is probably the most dominant colour in my wardrobe, so you see, this dress and I were just meant to be. Isn't the collar just perfect? The detail in it is just lovely, and you can see how much work has gone into it originally.

I love it as a dress, and it's alot more practical for me in winter. I'm certainly looking forward to wearing it with sandals and a straw boater in Summer though...Ahhhh daydreams....

Speaking of daydreams, it's now only 1 week until my Wedding day!!I am getting pretty super excited xxxxxxxx

I have been growing my hair for over two years now, and have aimed to get it down to my waist. I knew this wouldn't happen in time for the wedding, so I decided many months ago that I was going to get hair extensions and the day finally arrived to get them done!!!! Eeeeee!!!! I was really impresed with how real they look and feel (please excuse my regrowth, I am due at the hairdresser this week), and I can't stop brushing and feeling it!! I feel just as vain as Marcia Brady.

GEEK CHIC AND MY FAVOURITE PLACE

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today, the first mild day we have had in weeks, so we decided to take a good long trip to the Halswell Quarry, my favourite place in Christchurch, and let the dogs have a nice long walk. It was a very muddy track as it has been raining so much recently, so the dogs went in clean and went out looking very dirty. They loved it of course.

I love glasses, and although I don't have to wear them, these ones are just for fun. I love clothes with a masculine feel to them, and this outfit is based around that feeling, with a wee bit of a preppy edge. This shirt feels amazing on, and I it can be worn so many different ways, and from Summer through to winter, so it is definitely a favourite of mine, and these shorts were just too cute to resist with the plaid pattern.

MY BABIES

We have so many photos of our two babies so I thought it was about time I posted a few of my favourite ones....... This was about a year and a bit ago when we just got Bob, and although it's hard to believe now as he is HUGE, when we adopted him, he was the same size as wee Toto.

I love this photo so much more than the one we were trying to take of Toto, with his wee little tongue poking out to say hi

It gets so cold here over winter and my wee baby has very fine fur, so we got him this jacket online, which he actually loves to wear (surprisingly!), and the fake fur collar keeps his wee ears warm! I get so many wierd looks when I take Toto for walks wearing this

I bought these shorts a wee while ago, but this is the first time I have worn them. I love plaid, and these shorts are great for casual weekend chic. And this top is one of my favourites as it is lovely and soft to wear, and I am always in the mood for blue and white stripes! This outfit has a fun feel of men's tailoring with just enough of a nautical theme to keep me happy. I love this Ralph Lauren backpack. I got a quite a while ago in an op shop, and the mix of the size, gorgeous navy colour and cute shiny material has made it a regular in my wardrobe. Backpack perfection!

It was such a lovely day, so we took the opportunity to walk Toto and Bob and take some photos in our yard. It was so nice to have a break from the incessant rain we having been having here. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

THRIFTING KARMA

I love the world of thrifting. There are just so many treasures out there to find, and there is such a thrill at finding these forgotten goodies and giving them a new home!!! These are some of the pieces I have found recently, and to me they are proof that the thrifting universe is looking over us :) This wee cutie came in a set of four, and was a mega bargain at $2 for the whole set. Despite the fact that it only holds what seems like a single shot of coffee, I couldn't resist the heart design and using a cup and saucer feels so ladylike!! (Also a good reason to have multiple coffees and feel like it's only a couple)

This lovely navy bag was found at a huge garage style charity shop that has a majority of it's stuff for free (its name you ask?-The free shop. I know. Original) I paid $3 for a bundle of things including this bag, which is in great condition considering it was piled under a mass of dusty clothes and books. It's a great size, and I'm always drawn to navy in accessories as you don't need to worry about matching it to outfits as it always blends in. The many zip pockets inside really got me excited (I know, it's a sad life I lead) and the gold fastener is too cute for words. It's now become one of my staple bags.

Well the picture speaks for itself...who doesn't need an egg shaped jewellery holder!!!!I love trinkets like this, and it was in really good condition (i am not sure of its age, but a lot of second hand ornaments have broken legs etc). I had a great time putting all my earrings in here, and it sits so nicely next to my music box!!!

These books were ones I had specifically looked for ( apart from "gone with the wind, which was a lovely gift from my Mum, thank you Mum!!!) and again, they are proof that you really can find exactly what you are looking for when op shopping. I am currently making my way through them (reading 'Seven years in Tibet' at the moment, which I am thoroughly enjoying, and have already read 'Gone with the wind')I love buying second hand books for multiple reasons: one is that I am quite rough with my books, and when they are already a little tatty I don't feel so bad when I get the first coffee stain on it! I also love looking for notes inside the cover from previous owners - especially in romantic books. Some of the sweetest notes are inside these treasures.

Despite the fact that I barely wear dressing gowns as light as this one, I can't resist purchasing them, even if they spend most of their time hanging up in my room looking pretty. I loved the print on this one, far too pretty to resist.

This whole outfit (bar the shoes which are from a dance wear shop) ,was purchased for a total of $8, and I have already worn the pieces to death. The shirt reminded me so much of Dorothy's dress print from The Wizard of Oz, and I have wanted some high waisted denim shorts for quite some time now. Add red lipstick and I felt just like Marilyn Monroe!!! (well, a shorter, smaller busted version anyway).

My beloved and our closest friends and I went to see the musical Jesus Christ Superstar last night, which was directed by, and starred two of our very dear and talented friends, Leon and Dean. I do love any opportunity to dress up, and I had a big play around with my wardrobe before deciding on trying out this wee number(which is actually a nightie!!) teamed with a new and very poofy underskirt, some wee shorts (I didn't want to give anyone an unladylike view of my behind when I bent over!) and a splash of red with this ribbon to give the outfit some definition. Andrea found this cutie cardigan for me in an op shop that we have just started looking in, and will definitely go back to! I love any shade of peach as it seems to compliment my very fair complexion, and the wee floral detail on the front is just too pretty for words!

This trench was a gift from my sister, and I have worn it every day since she gave it to me! I love the shape of it and the lining is super soft and snuggly-perfect for Autumn weather xxx

I am a total bag lady and this $3 salvation army one was worth all the struggle it took to untangle it from all the other bags hanging up with it! It's such a nice shade of navy blue, and it's big enough to hold all the wee essentials we gals need!xxxxx

White Wonderland

I have been digging about in many an op shop this week, and was lucky enough to come across this wee beauty for the ridiculous Price of $4!!! It was originally a costume! Tehe! But I just couldn't resist a try on and it seems as though it was meant for me as it fit perfectly! The universe was very good to me indeed and I am very thankful! I love the gold detail all around the edges, it just gives it a lil somethin extra!

I really wanted to keep it nice and simple and let the dress stand out on it's own, so I wore my old dance shoes. I knew they would come in handy one day!!!

I am a total girl when it comes to big, full skirts, I can't wait to find a tulle underskirt to pop underneath it, then it will really poof out!xxxx

I have been yearning after some Riding boots for quite some time now, and I finally got these beautiful chocolate brown Italian ones. I have invested in a few long, overly baggy shirts recently too, to wear with leggings and boots for that cosy, simple Ralph Lauren type comfort in Winter without actually turning to track pants(noooooo!) I loved the colour and feel of this shirt, and couldn't wait to try it out with my new boots, and my new tote bag, which made the whole outfit feel very preppy. It's a very fun outfit to wear! My babies! They are so comfortable to wear, and riding boots never date, so if I take good care of them (I am a little OCD about conditioning and waterproofing my shoes and boots, I will do a blog on it soon!) they will last for years.

My other new baby! It's actually an overnight bag, but I am one of those bag lady's who takes the kitchen sink and then some with me everywhere.It fits soooo much in it, but because of the lovely structure of it, it never loses it's shape. And the checked pattern is too cute for words! xxxx

RIDING HIGH

Winter has started creeping in the last few days, with cooler mornings and the nights getting darker much quicker, so I thought it was the perfect time to pull out my boots! I am loving all the riding boot styles around this season (I have my eye on a gorgeous, classic pair at Mi Piaci that I'm planning to buy in a few weeks) but these tan babies are so comfortable and soft, I hope to be bringing them out for many Winters to come xxxx I love my Harem pants so much, and I love the way they puff out over my boots, it makes my outfit feel lovely and slouchy without feeling sloppy. And more stripes! My lovely friend Christina gifted me this gorgeous vintage scarf, so it had it's first outing today!

My baby all fresh from the groomer! (I love how they puff his ears, making his wee body look even smaller!!So cute!)

These boots are made with what feels like a lovely soft kid leather(it doesn't specify on the boots), and are lined with polar-fleece, so they are super cosy and very snuggly feeling. I love this shade of tan too, it's such a great neutral to wear when black gets a bit too much (not that that is very often!) The heels are a perfect height too, nice and thick so I can go dog walking in them without sinking into the mud. I felt like I needed a horse and paddock to wear them properly!! xxxxxxxxxx

I love men's tailoring, and why should they have all the fun!! I discovered this stripey (yep I'm mad about stripes!) Givenchy tie at an op shop a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd test it out with my favourite harem pants (so the outfit didn't look too corporate) and a classic white blouse and my beloved grey blazer. My new ballet flats, headband and pearl earrings added an ounce of femininity so I didn't feel too boyish. I had such fun wearing it and I think it will be one of those outfits I repeat and repeat!! CHANNELING COCO.......

I was given the Coco Chanel move Coco Avant Chanel for my birthday, and it has reiterated to me how simplicity is always the key to a fabulous outfit. I particularly loved the way Coco wore beautiful simple outfits, such as her gorgeous twin-sets, and allowed herself room to play around with accessories (namely her famous multi-strands of fake pearls, despite the fact that she owned multitudes of real ones, so very chic!) without making the outfit fussy.

BIRTHDAY BONANZA!

It was my birthday over the weekend, (I love birthdays! Any opportunity to celebrate!!) On Saturday morning after presents from my beloved (pics to come later this week!) we went to a family breakfast at my mums house (doggies included of course-they even got bacon for breakfast!!) and then we took the doggies to the park with my bestie Andrea and her hubby(where I got spoiled with more presents!). I decided it was the perfect time to wear a new outfit, sailor inspired......

Breakfast the next day at Drexels breakfast restaurant. I went super simple with my favourite crisp white Tee, black leggings, sleek hair, and a fun scarf to add a splash of colour. Add a strong coffee to the mix and it was a very lovely brekkie!!!xxx

This is my absolute favourite scarf, I would be absolutely lost without it as it adds the finishing touch to so many outfits. I wear it lots of different ways, but my favourite way is like this, so the tassle print sits perfectly on my back! It was a gem of a find that my mother- in- law -to- be found for me in a second hand store. Thankyou Marilyn!!

I love these shoes!!! They are from my favourite shoe store Mi Piaci, and they are yummy leather lined and upper. I love them because they give my girly clothes a bit of an edge, but they're not too fussy looking. They are also super soft to wear, and sky high, which I also love!!

SATURDAY WALKIES!

A Peachy Perfect Day!

It was a beautiful day on Saturday and My beloved and I were attending a friends Wedding.
Here I am at the reception at Clearwaters Golf Club. A very stunning place and was particularly picturesque thanks to the weather. I decided the Wedding was a good time to wear a vintage dress I had purchased a while back, but only just got hemmed (I'm a bit silly like that!) I loved the peachy colour as it complimented my pale skin and hair well, and I'm a total girl when it comes to full length gowns, I felt just like a princess!!

I decided to go without make-up other than my beloved red lipstick,and a few lashings of mascara, so I could feel fresh the whole day and night. (Lipstick- Dior in Rouge)

This dress honestly was so soft and lovely to wear as the beautiful satin fabric drapes so nicely. Was a perfect fit around the bodice as well, which was lovely up until dinner time!!!

I really love the pleating as well, it just gives it a little somethin' extra!

My babies! I adore these shoes as they are a beautiful buttery cream, which goes well with my skin tone. They are super soft leather upper and lined too, so were a dream to wear all day and night. I love the buckles on the side too. I didn't want to appear too costumy in the dress, so I thought thse shoes gave it a modern edge. I topped them off with OPI's Give Me the Moon Polish on my fingers and toes, it's a really pretty purply silver tone . Being a girl is so much fun!!!! xxxxxxxxxxx

I was off to a friends Hens party on Saturday afternoon, and I wanted something that was dressy, but casual enough to distinguish between my night and day wear, and I love this tunic for this purpose. It's very floaty and soft to wear, and I love layering it up with t-shirts, singlet tops and my beloved blazer, and leggings. Add some patent leather heels and away we go!!

And since I went without my red lipstick, I had to add something red in there(I'm absolutely in love with the colour red! I guess that's why it's the symbolic colour for love :):):) xxxx ) so I toted this wee satin clutch from Peter Alexander. Hope you like!! xxxx

I love these wee bracelets that I picked up on Friday, they are super cute and lots of fun!! I generally tend to wear the same jewellery; my pearl earrings, pearl necklace and my engagement ring, pictured above(which I shall do a wee blog on next week!!!) so I like to play around with quirky wee pieces like this! I love love love this dress.... My lovely sister found it in a Salvation Army store, and immediately grabbed it for me :) It has a beautiful full skirt and lining so it poofs out like a true 50's dress should. I always feel like a true girls' girls in it which I love. Even Bob and Toto love it!!!! I always have to finish it off with my favourite red lipstick.... (Dior in 'Rouge' .... not the most original name for a red lipstick!!! It has lovely blue undertones which compliment my pale skin. Ahhh isn't it grand being a girl ...... xxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm an absolute sucker for wearing black black black! It's such a great colour for days when colours just feel a bit too much, and it makes me feel very french chic when I add these black and white brogue style heels (my favourite heels from this season)and favourite siren red lipstick. And Toto matches me like a dream! Got to love black and white xxxxx

They are made with kid leather (super super soft) and have beautiful leather lining and leather soles, and even cute leather laces, so they are dreamily comfortable to wear. I have completed the look with Max Factor nailfinity polish in see through ivory, my fave polish at the moment. xxxxxx

Soooo........ I decided to go make up free apart from my red lipstick and lip liner (beautiful Dior ones gifted to me from my lovely mother at Christmas), and a splash of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, my favourite perfume.

My beloved and I had a lovely new years eve, and I hope you all did too xxxxx
